About Tiger Woodcraft

David Reilly was born and raised in the remote coastal community of Tlell on Haida Gwaii, a northern island rich with natural beauty and deep cultural roots.

Surrounded by towering first-growth spruce, cedar, western redcedar, western hemlock, Sitka spruce, and yellow cedar, David developed a profound connection to the forest and the river that ran just minutes from his home. His early years were spent exploring the wilds of the rainforest, fishing the Tlell River, and absorbing the quiet magic of nature—a connection that would later shape his life’s work.

After graduating from Queen Charlotte Secondary in 2000, David ventured south to Vancouver Island. He spent a year oyster farming before traveling through Australia, surfing and camping along its coastline. Upon returning to Victoria, he followed in his father’s footsteps and began a carpentry apprenticeship. He earned his Red Seal Journeyman ticket in 2006 and went on to build a successful residential construction company, specializing in high-end, multi-million-dollar homes. These demanding builds sharpened his attention to detail, craftsmanship, and precision—skills that became the foundation for his next chapter.

After 24 years in homebuilding, David felt the pull of the forest once again. Tiger Woodcraft was born from that calling—an evolution of his deep roots in woodworking, his love for natural beauty, and a passion for design. Today, David creates bespoke live-edge slab and epoxy resin furniture, blending artistry with craftsmanship to produce stunning, one-of-a-kind pieces. Each creation is a tribute to the wild places that shaped him, the trees that inspire him, and the belief that furniture should be more than functional—it should be a story, a showpiece, and a connection to something deeper.
